The NTCC® D492 cell line is a breast epithelial cell line that has stem cell properties and is used to study breast morphogenesis, cancer progression, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT):

• Origin

  The D492 cell line was established from normal breast tissue.
• 3D culture

  When cultured in a reconstituted basement membrane (rBM), D492 cells form branching structures similar to those in the TDLU.
• EMT

  When co-cultured with endothelial cells, D492 cells undergo EMT, which is a cellular plasticity program that's important for tissue regeneration and embryonic development.
• Tumorigenicity

  D492HER2 is a derivative cell line of D492 that's used to study tumorigenicity.
• Research applications

  The D492 cell line is used to study the role of genes in breast epithelial differentiation and mammary gland development.
