Bacteriophage SPP1 is a double-stranded DNA virus of the Siphoviridae family that infects the bacterium Bacillus subtilis.
Bacillus subtilis bacteriophage SPP1 is a lytic siphovirus first described 50 years ago. Its complete DNA sequence was reported in 1997.
SPβ infects the Gram-positive model bacterium Bacillus subtilis 168 and, as a prophage, significantly impacts the properties of its host.
