The cpstFRET (circularly permuted stretch sensitive FRET) sensor consists of a pair of tandemly connected circularly permutated CFP/YFPs (cpCerulean/cpVenus). Mechanical loading twists the dipole orientation from near parallel to diagonal, decreasing FRET efficiency.
