Porcine rotavirus strain OSU is propagated in MA-104 Clone 1 cells (ATCC CRL-2378.1). This strain was isolated in gnotobiotic pigs in Ohio and is serotype 5 (G5) by antigenic analysis of VP7 and serotype P7 by antigenic analysis of VP4.

Incubation
4 to 7 days at 36°C with rocking, a 5% CO2 in air atmosphere is recommended.
Recommendation for infection
For best results cells should be 24 to 72 hours old and lightly 100% confluent. Pretreatment of virus with trypsin is needed to activate virus before inoculation.
