The deoR- mutation strains efficiently take up large DNA molecules, assisting in library construction. In addition to the better-known high-efficiency strains, GeneHogs is a DH10B-derived E. coli strain specially prepared to take up large DNA such as bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACs) and P1-derived artificial chromosomes (PACs).
