BioVector® pJAZZ-OK is a specialized linear bacterial vector designed for cloning and maintaining DNA sequences that are unstable or difficult to clone in traditional circular plasmids.

Key Features:

  • Linear Structure: Unlike circular plasmids, pJAZZ-OK exists as a linear molecule. This linear configuration can help stabilize challenging DNA sequences, such as those with repetitive elements or high GC content, which can lead to plasmid instability in circular forms.

  • Kanamycin Resistance Gene: Contains the kanR gene, conferring resistance to the antibiotic kanamycin. This allows for the selection of bacteria that have successfully taken up the plasmid.

  • Transcriptional Terminators: Features transcriptional terminators flanking the cloning site. These terminators help prevent transcription from vector sequences into the insert DNA, which can interfere with gene expression or stability.

  • GC-Rich Cloning Site: The cloning site is optimized for GC-rich DNA sequences, making it suitable for cloning challenging DNA fragments.

Applications:

  • Cloning of Unstable DNA Sequences: Ideal for cloning repetitive DNA, GC-rich sequences, or other DNA fragments that are prone to rearrangements or deletions in circular plasmids.
