The NTCC® mHypoE-42 cell line is a line of immortalized mouse hypothalamic neurons that secrete neuropeptide Y (NPY). NPY is a neurotransmitter that plays a role in regulating appetite, energy expenditure, and reproduction. The mHypoE-42 cell line is a valuable tool for studying the role of NPY in these processes.

The mHypoE-42 cell line was originally derived from the hypothalamus of a 14-day-old mouse embryo. The cells were immortalized by transfection with a retrovirus containing the SV40 large T antigen.
